"The beckoning cat holds meaning in itself, and I feel it brings vibrant happiness to its surroundings.
I'm expanding the shape of my handmade beckoning cats by varying their sizes.
I'd be delighted if they blended into people's lives and unleashed their power as beckoning cats." (Peach Tanizawa)
Peach Tanizawa studied ceramics at Osaka University of Arts, launching her career with works brimming with the vibrant energy of the 1980s.
Currently based in Shigaraki, she focuses on creating a series of colorful Maneki-neko (beckoning cats), infusing this traditional motif with a contemporary sensibility.
These Maneki-neko, blending intricate patterns with bold colors, transcend the role of mere lucky charms, casting a happy spell on the hearts of those who see them.
